[Jesus speaking] “You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.” – John 15:16

When you think about the word “significance,” what comes to mind?

Money? An inheritance of some kind? A person’s reputation? Or maybe you simply think of something that lasts?

Significance can mean different things to different people. But when Jesus talked about significance, He used the phrase “lasting fruit” to depict what He meant. To Jesus, a Christian’s significance is measured by the fruitfulness of their faith. Jesus’ desire for His followers is that we all live lives of faith that make an eternal difference! This is what significance is all about.

And here’s the great news: the only prerequisite is simply that you’re a follower of Jesus!

Jesus didn’t say you have to have all the answers, memorize all the verses, and live a perfect life. He simply said if you are His follower, then you’ve been called and chosen to produce lasting fruit. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is where significance is found.
