COMMUNITY
Hey Faithbox Family,
When we think about the word “Community,” we may initially think of a neighborhood park, a local community center, or just a place where people gather. Maybe you have good associations with a community you are involved in, or maybe you’ve always been an outsider to a community you wish you could be included in.
Despite how you may feel initially about community, this month’s Everyday Faith is all about the importance of community and how—no matter where we are today—God can help us build a community that we can trust and rely on.
God has hardwired us for us connection! We were made to know, to be known, and to cherish the bonds we create. We were made in God’s image with the need for community and to operate in relationship others.
Yet, we’ve all faced letdowns, disappointments, and setbacks in our relationships. Just because we desire meaningful connections with family, friends, and other loved ones doesn’t mean it always turns out as so.
Fortunately, the Scriptures teach us a lot about what community means, how it works, and how to experience meaningful connection daily.
As we launch into this journey towards finding our own community, we’re praying God would open doors of opportunity in your life, soothe hurts and heal wounds, and cultivate the best possible connections you could hope for!
One thing is for sure: We’re grateful to have YOU here as part of our Faithbox community!

Hearing God’s voice.
In his new book, GodTalk, bestselling author Neale Donald Walsch offers a six-step process to discovering how God can reveal Himself to us in unexpected, unforgettable, mysterious, and miraculous ways that leave us with a powerful message that touches our hearts forever. With personal stories and simple—yet profound—insights, Neale helps readers deepen their dialogue with God and learn how to be even more in tune to hearing His voice. While we learn to dig into our own community, it’s even more important that we also build community with God. GodTalk is a guide to doing just that!
Neale Donald Walsch has written 40 books on contemporary spirituality and its practical application in everyday life, including nine books in the Conversations with God series, seven of which made the New York Times bestseller list. Book One remained on that list for 134 weeks. His titles have been translated into 37 languages and have been read by millions of people around the world.
“We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.”
Connecting Hearts by Global Crafts
Love connects us all.
This sweet Connecting Hearts soapstone decor piece is hand-carved from a single piece of natural soapstone. Soapstone is mined from great pits in the area surrounding Kiisi, Kenya. The mined soapstone is then delivered to carvers who carve sculptures from the natural stone. It takes intricate skill and craftsmanship to take one piece of stone and create two intertwined hearts. Once carved, the craftspeople smooth rough edges of the soapstone with sandpaper dipped in water and polish the piece to a high gloss or paint African motifs in brilliant colors with etched accents.
Global Crafts’ soapstone pieces are carved by the artists of SMOLArt—a group of artists who live in the rural village of Tabaka, Kenya, the heart of soapstone crafts. The name, a shortened version of Small, Medium, and Large Artists, refers to the size of the soapstone products the artisans make, not their stature. Established in 1990, SMOLArt is a member of the WFTO, which ensures the artisans are paid a fair price for their work. In addition, the organization supports community development by contributing to projects that improve living conditions, education, and health of their members and the village at large.
For over 20 years, Global Crafts has worked with marginalized artisan groups in 8 different countries with a mission to create economic opportunities that empower individuals and transform communities. Global Crafts is a member of the Fair-Trade Federation and is committed to fair trade principles when working with partners.
“Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.”

Art for your home, office, or friend.
This month’s Faithbox includes a 5”x7” art card designed to encourage and inspire you as we focus on the importance of community and building up our own communities that God has put around us. Spiritual Inventory
Our Spiritual Inventory Card is intended to help you get the most out of your faith by being able to track how you’re growing and where you’re going. As you start the new month, take time to reflect on each area and identify where you are doing well and where you can commit a little more focus.
Time with God: More than anything, a relationship with God is exactly that: a relationship. This area focuses on the ways you connect with God. It can include things like prayer, scripture reading, meditation, and reflection.
Relationships: You have been placed in the lives of others to make a difference! Take time each month to consider who God has placed in your life, how those relationships are developing, and what your role is to make a positive impact in their lives.
Generosity: Generosity is at the heart of who God is and all that He does. This area is about the opportunities you have to make a positive impact financially. No matter how large or small, giving financially to an organization or person in need makes an impact.
Serving: A life that’s moving forward is a life that is concerned with the needs of others. In this area of focus, consider where or how you can get involved to serve others in your life, your church, and your community.
“The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith.”
