While juggling a busy schedule, many responsibilities and commitments to others, it can be easy to forget about the importance of also taking care of ourselves. That’s why it’s vital to consider our health and and look at it through a Biblical lens. We all know the importance of paying attention and caring for our emotional, mental, and physical health…and it turns out that God’s Word has quite a bit to say about these different areas as well.

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Your body is a gift. Each part was intricately and intentionally designed by our Heavenly Father (see Psalm 139:13). God has given us our bodies as a gift. With our bodies, we have the ability to act and interact, to think and feel, to love and be loved, and to engage with our world physically and emotionally.

But God didn’t just design our bodies; He paid the price for them. By sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross, God paid our ransom. He gave us new life and new freedom, but this freedom is not something we should take lightly or without thought.

By seeking to live healthy lives – both emotionally and physically – we’re stewarding the bodies God has given us and honoring the price He’s paid.

“God created your body Jesus died for it and the Holy Spirit lives in it.” – Rick Warren, Pastor and Author

No matter who you are or where you are, we can all take steps to improve our health— inside and out!
